So the other night my sister and I were talking, and she tells me she wants to apply for a job at American Apparel. So I insist that she go for it, but before I could finish my sentence she tells me that you have to send in pictures of your personal style. Which by the way I don't find to be a problem, but it is a lot of work for minimum wage job. At first I didn't believe it, but after sorting through rumors I found out that it was true. Now I don't have a problem with fashion retail employers having style expectations for their employees but when I walk into a American Apparel they all look the same to me. Trust me I have no bad blood towards American Apparel, I shopped at American Apparel for a few things to get ready for my first photo shoot and many times after that. Their prices may be a little to high in my opinion but it works for them. I would just except the style to be a little better than it is. From what I hear Dov Charney (owner and creator of American Apparel) is laying off employees who are not bringing enough style to the table. I mean I can't really disagree with the choice, when I open my boutiques I would except the same from my employees. But firing them during a recession is a bit harsh, instead they should be brought back to the drawing board and told to try again. But in American Apparel's case their employees are their models as well as walking commercials, I just hope the next time I walk into the store I am impressed with they style
