Jan Tsminiau a couture designer from Amsterdam brought Princess Lelia from Star Wars together with couture for his fourth collection for spring/summer 2009. All pieces are hand embroidered with snaps that have Swarovski crystals, which can be added or taken off. The clothes and the metal armatures can also be worn separately. Each garment features the application of metal press buttons that allow the garments to be worn in many ways while letting the wearer manipulate the shape. Jan Taminiau draws on the mix of cultures that is influential to the Dutch heritage, thus creating an offering of dynamic creations of wearable art. The fashion industry is changing and I am so happy to see new creative minds presenting their take on fashion.
